Ganeesha is the son of Shiva and Parvati and he is always depicted with an elephant's head. However, this true Hindu god is also revered in Buddhism and Jainism. In Hinduism he is known as the God of wisdom. He clears all obstacles and is the patron of science, writing and school. Also in Nepal, among others in the valley near Kathmandu, he can be found in many places, mostly at the entrance of Buddhist temples, where Ganeesha protects wisdom.
An image of him is often on road junctions in India so that he can help travelers if they have to make a choice and take a new road. Ganeesha is always at the beginning of something, a first impulse.
